Generating metrics and applying matrices is the core focus of my work, and so of days. I would say applying metrics as well.
I am grateful with the inventor of the meter. It is a great scale and easy scalable itself. It is not a redundancy. It is not complicated to go across the different order of magnitude separated by powers of ten. From nanometers to kilometers.
It seems to me that it was very effective for communication, standardization, monitoring, and trade. The easy conversion across the scale is of great benefit in comparison to the imperial system or feet system.
