A Coat of Many Colors

I am glad the Bishop of Oakland has been touched by Dolly Parton’s life and her songs. He also had great comments about Edith Piaf in October 22 last year.

A day ago or so, I listened and watched a video from Dolly Parton’s performing that song at a Pub in Ireland, where she was just visited. So the whole situation was casual, and she of course, in her generosity agreed to sing. It happened that the guitarrist at that pub knew that song. It was a great heart feel scened. Now I know a bit more about the song, but not yet fully. It seems that when she was attending elementary school as a little girl, her mom woven a coat for her made of rugs of different colors. Folks at the school bullied her and the coat. The fantastic story is the twist on how she owned, how proud she is about the coat and of grateful to her parents. It seems that the song is about that story.

Other learnings I might need to check is the growing Catholic faith in France, or rebirth, and in Germany, but at a lesser pace than in France.

Dolly Parton came from a family of 12 siblings, she was the 4th child. Those are extracts of things I have read or listen over the last few dates. But a funny quote I heard, is that folks asked if there were Catholic, because of the numerous family. She said no, just horny Baptists!

On another note, and with quite of mix feelings of deviating attention, because finally I am in the library. I received a 92% chocolate gift today. It is impressive how much attention, some folks can give, time and effort. It is interesting that another generous person, though Berkeley residents for years, also were originally from Missouri. It might be a coincidence. But, it is so interesting to see this common treats, of gratitude and generosity, at least from that common root.
