Life Happenings on a Day Mainly. And some analysis of street safety and accidents avoidance, with claims on people to be more focused and conscious.

Berkeley, Friday, August 8, 2026 10:02 PM

Of course I do not need to type here everyday.

And it is about time to sleep.

Some experiences from the past have taught me about the good brain balance of keeping an active blog. It could create disconnection, although I do am not sure if its the causation, but at the end is additional time, not every post or rather any goes into the specifics details at least it is about the self, even then. So, what is the time for a deeper dive on some topics?

There are, and also some of the communication is stronger after organizing or unloading some situations in here.

Although, I am still a weak communicator. At times I have not been. And even thought, and have been praised a few times for keep conversations flowing, even at once or twice, to be able to explain clearly. to explain concepts in a way that make sense in another brain. Those thing told in person. In paper some feedback goes both ways. There are praise, but also harsh critique. That is how things work. Or more than twice I recall now. But the in person reaction with words or not, is a good feedback. It can be signs and direct words or appreciation. Softened words of critique, which I also appreciate. Or moving to another place or turning the back.

Bielsa once said, when talking with the press about his terrible campaign as coach in Uruguay, I do appreciate the debate, apologies I react, but I do love the discussion. I do even like to loss the argument in the debate, because then I learn. I do not know him, but at times I listened and saw him interrupting reporters to correct their question. That is wrong. One can say that is his character. But that does not necessarily translate in that he likes to loss the argument. It might be true. He is a genius and a good thinker regardless. Did Socrates wanted to loss the argument? Not that is not an intention to get involve in the argument, neither to win is an intention. The intention is to express one’s point, listen to the other person point, acknowledge if no resolution can be made, and so both parties have different points on an issue, or acknowledge if one is wrong, and so loss the argument is correct. What I am saying entering into an argument to win or to loss is not a goal. The goal is to solve a problem. Not entering an argument is terrible.

But at times the best is to listen. Particularly, if one senses that the other party is not willing to listen.

Good day, but it started late.

Towards the end of the day, a good hike to the hills. Legs are shaking a bit, that might be for tiredness, heavy load that I usually carry, or the bike rides, but it is not the first time I noticed.

One also learn some things one see.

We were approached on the hike by R.H. to listen to the songs of the summer camp closure, which were happened at Codornices Park. We were several feet uphill. So it is interesting how sound can travel through the creek canyons if wind is coming in that uphill direction.

I learned a bit about the Conservation Corps, which work focuses on Marin and now in Sonoma. A well read person, with connection to the environment and land, and quite aware of several things, a really flourishing conversation.

On another topic, I have seen in the news and make sense in conversations the dangers of some crossings at Rose Street, and might be at Hopkins as well.

Oh. Today, knowing the street names, by heart, was good to feed into the conversation.

Now, in another topic as I was saying, I also opened when arrived at home, the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper, I saw that this morning a scooter rider hit a car, might be. The result was tragic. Despite the news says she was wearing a helmet, she died on the scene.

Pedestrian have died by car atropellamientos in Berkeley in Rose Street. I will see in which other street as well.

Cars could suck, if not used responsible.

It is a commodity and a source for food for instance. I know folks without a vehicle who rely a lot on eating out.

But cars really could suck, if they are used as a hedonistic distraction with loud music. The loud music is not the major issue as long as one have the full senses. But how one can feel the street if it is not a pedestrian. Or if does not understand by heart risks, and particularly the right of way.

How can one be a good driver if does not have cycling experience or do not talk with cyclist about what to expect.

How one can be a good driver if does not have scooter experience.

Now, all the inverse are also necessarily. How one can be good pedestrian, cyclist, and scooter driver if does not know the rights of way, if does not understand the driver focus, if one does not understand the blind spots of the driver.

As anything else, once one is doing an activity or hit the street, will have little chance to think in something else rather than in what one is doing. And at urban cycling, motorized scooters, one is risking ones life at all times, if one loses the focus.

That is a minor down side of public transportation. Then one is rather sat and would be better if one directs the attention to a do some reading, or one can explain then certain preferences of folks on text messages or calls.

Public transportation, is rather a social gathering, which as society can show downfalls such as pickpocketing, or folks spilling things, but all of that is part of the experience and the outcome overweights the downfalls. Usually it is a social collaborative environment, either by talked mutual understanding, or by corporal language. There is live music too at times. Services, information, are there. An rather in an extremely low probability peoples lives would be at risk. Cycling is much more dangerous and the full reward is not the facing the dangers, otherwise one could ride much more conservatively, but the full reward is on the full focus of the brain to complete the ride task. One can not be enjoying that much the surroundings in the busy urban areas.

I will once I get there. A potential issue in some San Francisco streets, although, I do not know it that well yet, is that [ok some music coming from the other side of the wall now, created a bit of distraction] I was saying that crossings of market streets come from directly from the highway or to take the highway. Any driver knows that there is not a direct mind shift while driving from coming from the highway in a rush to adjust to the city. That could be done with practice and depends on how conscious one can be, but there is not a direct adjustment.

I will see how I experience riding in market street if that happen at some point. I hope it does. It is a sort of chaotic street by itself with rails, tram or street cars, buses which are connected to electric cables above you, cars, pedestrians, motorcycles, and the actual competition between cyclist in the narrow at times, but when wide, one would have cars rozand one’s elbow. The competition between cyclist is a bit dangerous there in the bike lane. Also, all cyclist must remember to respect the pedestrian right of way.

Focus on the feet, sometimes have a lag time. Three days ago, while drinking 5 ounces of a loaded IPA from LA, I was listened to the interlocutor in the conversation that he is going to scuba dive in Fiji. Thirty minutes later, when wrapping up the conversation I wished him the best in New Zealand. I think it is not that far, not checking the map now. The good wishes were taking in, just some time later post-conversation to realize of my error. There is a lack time. I hope I can still catch or be aware of imprecisions.

Get to keep going with the writing, some emails, housing, need to get a backpack tomorrow. Good one the current one, lasted about 5 years. Probably that is their life use. I do heavily use those things. The sad thing for side pockets, is that phones nowadays are absurdly big. Of course, one can always find things that work for the self. If for that specific thing, although I do not mind looking at my cellphone few times per day, but if I were to carry it, I might find a shorter one?
