Ubuntu

I understand I cannot spend that much time here. Probably I do not understand that. However, there are a few things I learn per day, and I like to particularly post what I learn from others in person or call. Mainly in person though.

A friend from Zambia taught me a bit about Ubuntu.

It is surprised how few things I know. And here it is another example. I was aware of the software name since 2011, when I got a job, and my computer was set up with windows, but the prior user also used Ubuntu. Already, opened there a curiosity for Linux at some point. Yet, I still haven’t know anything about Ubuntu. Probably, the Lord, or life shows one things buts by bits. I am not endorsing a philosophy. So glad I learned about it. And so glad that it was popularized by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and by President Nelson Mandela.

You got it know. I did not know that Ubuntu was a philosophy:

I am because of who we all are.

or

I am because you are and because you are; therefore I am.

or

I am because we are.

I still do not Ubuntu. Here some superficial knowledge, and two references of two giants figures who I admire, particularly one of them that all of us know about, but I would need to learn more about Archbishop Desmond Tutu. I heard once a good story about him, unfortunately in a vide, from Bishop Barron. One can learn few things in a video, but that might have been in 2019 or 2020. OK. Of course, now I a days, I listen to a video now and then, but try to avoid getting there in first place. Youtube and those algorithms have ways to trap one’s attention to what can be relevant, particularly if one does not check time. There are good things there, but even same as a store, it is better to enter with a plan. That applies to many places where one knows that would be aggressively offer products, or to a grocery store. Plans are good. But also is good to be present in the moment, not only in ones plan.

Any ways, a few sources from the quotes. I read briefly two paragraphs from [1], but other sources seems to be [2], and even I extracted the third sentence from [3].

[update 2:39 am. Although it meant to be a clean, simple, few note post, to something more to learn about. I briefly mentioned about bad habits about videos. And although I listened, and probably watched that video about Archbishop Desmond Tutu, not about Ubuntu though, around 2019 and 2020, and those were rather quite controlled times of watching a video, which despite everything I more or less watching a bit, and quite objectively. For me it sounded like not accessing to videos is a thing that I have had under control but it is not. And it depends on the environment. Now, thankfully is quite well. I do not recall a having spend inactive time watching a video in 2026. I probably watched no so long ago the goal from Deportivo Cuenca against Santos. I had to watch such a historic moment from the team I am a fan or more accurately a supported, or the team I care about what happens. I watched a goal from Julian Alvarez in the Champions league. And the Copa del Rey final brief highlights. Supporter of Mikel Oyarzabal, Real Sociedad, even without knowing much. Good vibes of a good leader. Still any inactive time in front of a computer is in control. Quite never it has been fully inactive I believe. Oh, I watched a brief interview and the trailer for the scientist who supported the film hoppers. Anyways, but there have been times where things were not in much control. One of those were a brief period in Spring 2023. But even in 2025, by revising or listened to some material I received. I understand now a bit more a few things and actions. But context and clarity is important to provide. And during the period late 2020 to early 2022, yes there were sometimes when in was the worst, almost as some not in control weeks in 2023. Even in summer 2024, even if it was consulting by topic, I did spend some time watching some videos. Winter break 2023 2024 also had that impact. Even if it was learning about the jeep, but then expanded with a series about off-roading, or cars, hiking, or stock market, or even more relevant topics, or soccer in the past. Not listing every single topic. It is not a good space, nor a good use of time. [Another Update. I spent a few minutes reading some article. Not time have passed quickly. And I remember about the videos, a few times I also watched some silly interviews, some sort of concursos or challenges, some comedy, and particularly some street reporting in places in LA, but in other parts of the US, and of the world as well]. Is that flagellation? Sort of. It is good to keep the memories, a questions is about the details where, but also is good not to disconnect the self.
