It is risky to place public thoughts in the search of clarity on the web, but also public life is a gift.
Gun violence is a threat in the United States and across the world. Two days ago a public speaker was shot dead while engaged on a discussion on a campus in Utah. A few weeks ago a few Catholic Children were shot to dead while at mass on an elementary school in Minneapolis, and the list probably might goes on. I am not checking sources right now.
I understand that the public discussion would be about gun control. But still people might find their ways.
Here is where the gospel needs to play a role in every people mind, hearts, and souls.
I am sure eveyone has been treated bad by someone, or harassed by someone, or could build negative emotions about one or several persons. Here comes the twist. Read the last part of Matthew, 5, 43-48. Pray for those who has done something to us. Pray for those to whom we might have a negative feeling.
Pray for repentance of the shooter. Pray that Saint Michael keep evil away from embodied people. What else can be the explanations. Pray that the shooter won’t be executed.
I strongly believe that it is beautiful that people have different opinions. Otherwise, the world could not progress or even we could not think deeper on what we are developing in terms of thinking, science, policy, etc.
But we must pray for our enemies. I believe that is the only solution above policies to prevent all those ugly situations.
