Prayers to Learn

Berkeley, Monday, February 16, 2026 3:09 PM

I am typing here a few prayers for the sake of, probably, memorizing them, but mainly, and hopefully to internalize them. Those are common prayers, so I also do not maye errors when recitating them by heart.

Eucharist [5, 6]

Introductory Rites

Penitential Act

The Confiteor
I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done,
and what I have failed to do,
(Strike the chest three times while saying:)
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God. [3]

The Liturgy of the Eucharist

Presentation of the Gifts and Preparation of the Altar

May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands
for the praise and glory of his name, ...

Meals

Grace Before Meals

Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty, through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Grace After Meals

[I just got distracted a bit with other things] I must track time to not lose focus.

My grand ma, with my uncle grandma, Carmelita, used to pray something like this:

Gracias y alabanzas te damos Señor que nos has dado de comer sin merecer desde el primer instante del ser natural. Amén

At least that is what I recall as a children. Back to reference [1]

We give Thee thanks for all Thy benefits, O Almighty God, who lives and reigns forever. Amen.

It is always good to recall the departed souls, pray for the so the will be purged, cleaned, from the purgatory into Heaven. But why [1] have them included in the prayer of grace after meals. Is not only the first sentence the grace prayer. And the second one about the souls. I think that yes. Because I see that repeated in the second last prayer in the handout [1]. If you read [1] you would understand. I just edited the prayer now.

Liturgy of the Hours

Concluding Prayer

In the absence of a priest, and after individual recitation or rather prayer of the liturgy the hours, the following prayer is said to the Lord of Hosts:

May the Lord bless us, protect us from evil, and bring us to everlasting life. [2, p.15]
