Christian Prayer: The Liturgy of the Hours

Berkeley, Sunday, February 8, 2026 7:32 PM

The goal, at this point of this post, is to have an ongoing post with a few quotations, probably as well, with a few reflections on the Liturgy of the hours.

I might use the H1 to H4 structure of this blog to move things along.

How to change to H1? Oh I see is on the paragraph.

Antiphons

How the antiphons are written? Are those extractions from the scripture? All of them?

God's word os alive; it strikes to the heart. It pierces more surely than a two-edged sword. (Antiphon 3. Common Pastors. Morning Prayer)
Why there is an (alleluia) at the end of each antiphon?
You are the light of the world; a city set on a hill cannot be hidden. (Antiphon 1. Common Pastors. Morning Prayer). [Which hill though. A second floor facing the street? A public screen? Acquired knowledge? Which light? Prayer? Truth? Errors?
Where brothers praise God together, there the Lord will shower his graces.

Additional Notes

Encourage each other daily while it is still today (Hebrews 3:13)

Through the Word all things were made (John 1:3)

Psalms

"Lord, what is man that you care for him,
mortal man, that you keep him in mind,
man, who is merely a breath,
whose life fades like a show?" Psalm 144.
