Davis, Wednesday, October 8, 2025 1:41 PM
I presented a poster at a conference at Davis.
I can talk more about that other time.
I was deciding about going to a field trip this morning.
I was not sure, because stuff I need to write and a deadline that I am behind.
Now without an office, it has become a bit more complicated to keep track of my daily reading book.
However, I still need to keep myself…. forgot what I was saying.
Now I am more mobile, the backpack is quite heavy. I need to become familiar to doing stuff from the computer.
Anyways, I missed the field trip, but instead I joined with a few confusion a field trip to the Putah Creek.
I loved.
Two or even three key aspects for a campus success, even four, or more that I am observing.
I helps a lot to have a small creek on campus.
I helps to create a natural space. That inspire art and music, and thoughts, and writing, and restoration discipline, and keep the spirits up.
It is good to have access to a small farm near campus.
It is good to have good food facilities on campus.
Parking can be expensive, but not too expensive. Also, it needs to be easy available.
It is better if the campus is compact. It is great to have things within walking distance, connected to a good transportation, or biking service. But it is not necessarily good depending only on bikes or scooters on campus. A lot of good conversations and observations happen while walking.
The greenery and the creek will bring temperature down.
Probably, Universidad de Cuenca, should try to buy more properties on the north bank of Rio Tomebamba. There is different, because it is a quite dangerous river, yet still can be useful. Because it is a beautiful river.
I can see how many beautiful campus have a river nearby. It was also the case in Leuven.
Also, University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign has a small creek, where Ven Te Chow did a lot of his studies.
What else should I do? Now.
Back to the topic. I should go to Berkeley soon, probably now.
Another important thing is that the buildings are beautiful.
But plants greenery, open spaces, plenty of natural light is needed.
Further, good libraries, are the essence of a campus.
I will go to UC Davis library soon. Then, it seems that I will be leaving near 4 PM.
What else?
Intelligent people is able to create a good system of working, and to delegate as well.
I need to add earlier collaborators, such as Z.R. to the poster.
I will send emails soon, probably from Berkeley.
Another thing is that resting places are key. Some folks might be confortable with having a nap outdoors on the grass. But napping chairs are a good option for many.
OK. So I said, a creek, greenery, plenty of information about plants, a plant nursery, of course a fairly good clinic, plenty of natural light, safety is important, I will get to that point.
Food available for students, professors, and guests. A very good library. Or several good libraries. Beautiful, but functional buildings.
In terms of safety, that on part depends on the city. But also a campus might have its own police. Cleaning people might be custodians.
I see how complex things can be. Since a campus hire several campus infrastructure support people, to some extent like a city and to some extent like a venue. Plus, all the folks hired so we humans can do the work in that infrastructure is a fascinated topic.
But infrastructure is a key.
I am struggling to get the full 8 hours of sleep. I should go to bed earlier.
An so, be able to be more bright during day time. A beer now a then can be fine. But, I see that it might be convenient to skip it at several times.
What else?
I must become a better listener, and to get enough sleep, so I better understand and react to what people is saying.
I also need to take life much more serious. It is not that I must control things, but I should try not to miss deadlines.
Push hard to be fair, fulfill what I say. Committing to several things might be OK, as long as I am able to do them.
Other though, while I do this exercise to focus, and I might get a nap on my way to the main library, here it goes:
Writing is a great technique for thinking.
Writing is growing. But writing happens alone.
Yet, a person who writes clearly, is not necessarily depicted as crazy.
But, talking alone your thoughts, is definitely seen as crazy.
