It is not only about calendars. But it can be a key thing to agree on, to keep all references. We cannot exclude some times. And that does not mean erase others. But agreeing on calendars is key, and it is not only mandate.

I know for instance about standard time zones, at least in the United States was resultant from the Chicago rail system. There was a need of timing coordination to avoid accidents on the tracks.

There is practicality in all of these, but we cannot omit religions and cultures from the calendars.
