Either we wanted or not we, humans, are morning people. In the morning the brain is much more wired. Things are either fresher or even quieter if that were the case, which is not necessary.
Computers and any other distractions have shifted our sleeping schedule, but particularly unsolicited lights.
I have a flood lamp next to my window, which every day makes me feel I have been throwing away any value of rent benefits, there is more to that. While I have installed plenty of things to block the light, it has affected my sleeping hours. And have make my sleeping schedule inconsistent.
I have stayed in here because of the location, accessibility to groceries stores, space to store books, able to take care of plants, bus services, hiking nearby places, and not too far from campus etc. I cannot give too much details.
I can also have friends etc come over, it is different than living in a room. But it would be surrealistic as well, because of financial stressors at times.
The bedroom is not at cozy as it should be, and the beautiful desk, which I like its location, sometimes get spoiled by noises coming from the other side of the wall. Then I need to move, and regain my focus.
Those noises sometimes distract my focus of choices.
But I really hate myself if I were to start complaining about others as a reason of my.., [interruption, I decided to watch the Brighton vs. Chelsea Premier League game]… situation, which can be true in some cases, but I prefer to focus on what I can give in. [Finish writing this after another prolonged interruption….]
My energy is somehow quite gone. While I woke up at 5 am, and took a prolonged nap this afternoon. The flood light next to my window has been really affecting my sleep. I decided to somehow renew the lease. I have made amendments on the window, and reported about it. But my point was either not understood or many just do not care about it. I often question if the managers of the property knows where is the property located, but as many other things in life, one could adapt.
I of course could have leave for another place, but that is a lottery always. But there are additional things to that.
In another topic, the other day I invested some minutes on checking part of an interview video on youtube to an interesting ufologist. While he has his views and theories, and thoughts about how to better invest time, rather than fighting each other between humans, and being a fan of football, etc. About the latter one, while I agree that one has to much more professional in things that one does everyday, and there are many more things to rather focus in life. I think football, and sports in general, re a great good distraction, create community, and could, if completely transparent, empower the spirit of excellence and meritocracy.
I am adding this later. Football in its relative short time in human history has had an incredible impact. It is played widely in every single country. There are fans from diverse groups, races, economic status, and religion. Likewise players are quite diverse. While recently in some countries i.e. Saudi Arabia, and I would guess that China as well, and others, it has had a more top down approach to introduce it to the masses. It is a guess, it might have not been like that. Back to its impacts, the word is the same in others than languages than UK English, even if the word that is just translated phonetically without specific meaning. In Spanish is fútbol, instead of balón pie. Just realized how different is the meaning of the word pie in English and Spanish. In Portuguese is futebol. Has the French adopted the original name, football? The beauty of languages. In italian is different. It is calcio, though. I wonder about the etymology about that name. And talking about etymologies I was just reading about Saint Isidore of Seville over this weekend… etc.
When applying those things of watching a game, and falling behind in other things, the feeling change. As in any other things in life, live things are much better, but broadcasting those events etc have evolved screen in a good way, so we clearly see what we type, or we can have online meetings etc…
The clear problem with screens is isolation of course. But many isolated monks have influenced society for better with their writings or with their working routines and why not with their prayers.
Parts of this I wrote yesterday, parts I wrote today, so that is why a full objective topic lost is rails.
But seeing the mess and space that printed things can use, even as much as I like them, and as much as easier to read or skim particularly in the case of newspapers, and as less tiring for the eye that is reading on paper in contrast to screen, space is extremely limited in several places of the earth to live now, while engaged to school and in a metropolitan area, and because one must be ready to be mobile, the obvious choice is to have a well organized digital place.
While it would suck to have everything, particularly in terms of literature and work, on devices behind those screens, it also seems to be the obvious choice to go. Key aspect is not to get distracted, not even with email. But it is also clear that one does not have our own life’s script for pretending scheduling things and focus as one’s own will.
